In a remarkable testament to its commitment to enhancing India's infrastructural capabilities, ABC Trainings recently concluded an intensive three-day EPC Contract Management Course. This highly specialized program, designed for professionals engaged in the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of highway projects, underscores ABC Trainings' pivotal role in driving national development in collaboration with the Defence sector and BRO.

A Curriculum Designed for Impact

Held from March 12 to March 14, 2024, the course offered a deep dive into the critical aspects of EPC contract management, encompassing a wide range of topics critical to the successful delivery of highway projects. The curriculum was meticulously structured to provide comprehensive insights and practical knowledge, preparing participants to navigate the complexities of EPC projects with greater confidence and expertise.

Day 1: Laying the Foundation

The program kicked off with Dr. Sunil Pimpalikar, a professor in civil engineering, who provided an overview of various modes of delivery for implementing highway projects, including BOT (Toll), BOT (Annuity), PPE, EPC, and HAM. This session also addressed strategies for dealing with changes in scope and extensions of time (EoT), setting the stage for a holistic understanding of project delivery mechanisms.

Following this, Mr. Achut Anant Erande, with his extensive experience and qualifications in civil engineering, delved into the crucial topic of Quality Control of EPC works. The day concluded with Mr. Faruk Latif Sayyad exploring the merits and demerits of the EPC mode of delivery compared to other models, offering participants a balanced perspective on choosing the most effective project delivery method.

Day 2: Enhancing Operational Excellence

The second day, led by Mr. V. D Sardeshmukh, a retired Superintendent Engineer, focused on the salient features of RFPs for consultancy service contracts and original works construction. This session was instrumental in guiding participants through the decision-making criteria in tendering for EPC contracts, from technical evaluation to the issuance of Letters of Acceptance (LoA).

Further enhancing the day’s agenda, Dr. Milind Wankhede, an esteemed advocate and adjunct professor, covered the legal aspects of EPC contracts and the dispute resolution mechanism, equipping participants with the knowledge to navigate potential legal challenges in EPC projects.

Day 3: Addressing Environmental and Legal Considerations

The final day of the course addressed essential environmental clearances and legal aspects of EPC contracts. Rajendra Dhogade and Mr. Vikas R. Jagtap, both with backgrounds in forest conservation, shared their expertise on obtaining LA/FC/Wildlife clearance and shifting of utilities. Dr. Adhikrao Yewale, an EIA expert, further elaborated on obtaining and understanding environmental clearances for developmental projects.

The course wrapped up with VD Sardeshmukh revisiting the silent features of EPC agreements for consultancy services, civil works, and the role of the Authority's Engineer, providing a comprehensive close to an extensive exploration of EPC contract management.

Conclusion: Strengthening India’s Infrastructure Through Education

ABC Trainings' three-day EPC Contract Management Course represents a significant leap forward in professional development for individuals involved in India’s infrastructure sector. By facilitating this advanced training program, ABC Trainings not only contributes to the personal growth of each participant but also plays a crucial role in bolstering the nation’s infrastructure development.

As we reflect on the success of this course, it's evident that ABC Trainings, in partnership with the Defence sector and BRO, is setting new standards for excellence and innovation in infrastructure project management. This endeavor not only makes India proud but also paves the way for a future where our nation's infrastructure is built on a foundation of knowledge, expertise, and global best practices.
